Acclaimed, celebrated and much admired does not begin to describe Leni Stern and her extensive career sought after guitarist, vocalist and composer. Stern has been described as having a “voice like Marlene Dietrich with Billie Holiday’s phrasing (Boston Phoenix).” Known for her appealing and out of the ordinary blend of jazz and pop, Stern in recent years has turned her attention to the world rhythms of West Africa, specifically, the mbalax from Senegal performing with percussionist Elhadji Alioune Faye.
