The Great American Songbook signifies Americas cultural contribution to the world of music and will be performed by three gifted songstresses: Alison Crockett, Darden Purcell and Jessica Boykin-Settles. The name Ella Fitzgerald is similarly synonymous with the Great American Songbook as we pay tribute to what would be Ms. Fitzgeralds 104th birthday celebration. Each of these talented instrumentalists teach jazz vocals at George Washington, George Mason and Howard Universities respectively. Together and separately they will perform selections from the vast lexicon that compiles the Ella Fitzgerald repertoire.
